Attractions near the University of Miami
Traveling to Florida can be a wonderful adventure, and if you are visiting the Coral Gables area, which is located just southwest of Miami, you will have plenty of fun and interesting things to see and do. Here is a list of the "must-see" attractions that you should make time to visit:
Fairchild Tropical Botanical Gardens - Known the world over as one of the best and biggest tropical botanical gardens, this attraction features the opportunity to see thousands of flowering trees, palms, bamboos, vines and tropical fruits, as well as many endangered plant species.
The Venetian Pool - You will never ever see another public pool like this one! The Venetian Pool was created back in 1924 over an old rock quarry and ranges from a depth of 4-8 feet, includes a waterfall, a kiddy pool area and uses 820,000 gallons of fresh water. Renovated back in 2009, this amazing pool is still open to the public today.
The Biltmore Hotel - Featured in many movies and television shows, the Coral Gables Biltmore Hotel became a National Historical Landmark in 1996. Many big stars from classic Hollywood, as well as true Royalty from throughout Europe have all stayed at this famous hotel.
Lowe Art Museum - Owned and operated by the University of Miami, the Lowe Art Museum is the permanent home to many famous art collections. It also features art from many different periods including modern art, 19th century American art, Renaissance, Baroque, 17th and 19th century European art as well as Greco-Roman antiquities.
The DeSoto Fountain - You have probably also seen this historic landmark in television and movies. It is located within a traffic circle that connects Sevilla Avenue and Granada Boulevard, and has been used as a photo opportunity by many visitors and tourists to the area.
